Restoran Yunus Khan

Its late at night, and you're craving for mamak food
You go to???
Yunus Khan of course!

This place is available from around 7pm to early morning around 4am.
Location:
Jalan Khoo Siah Ewe, Penang
Its a stone throw away from Komtar and the Chew Tian Yang petshot.

This place is not much about variety,
but the famous dish is Maggie Goreng.
Ingredients include:
eggs, maggie noodles, cabbage slices, pieces of fried chicken
The rest is pure technique.
Perhaps there's some secret ingredients in it that makes it so tasty...hmm...

The taste is WAYYYYYY better than what it looks like!!!
Honest.
*damn, make me crave for it already now*
Its a hangout place for late night owls.
During usual nights, you could hear the television with Indian movies on. ^^
Its just like home. Eat while watching TV. Ain't that relaxing?

THE Maggie Goreng.
You could get a double Maggie with extra chilli for the BomB.

Oh well,
I'm always the "extra order" person
Drumstick anyone? ^^

Gurney Drive Penang

This place is a must go if you're in Penang.
How could you miss it?!
Here's Gurney Drive Hawker Centre!!! Wee~
No verdicts given because hawker food here basically...
ALMOST conclude what Penang hawker food is all about.
(prominent ones of course)

Char Koay Teow
However other people spell it.
You get the idea. LoLx!
You know what, I don't want to give any idea...
but go for the stalls which are more packed (with locals)
Locals knows best.
There are a few stalls selling the same things, but some are just ... blah.

Wantan Mee
Another prominent hawker food here.
Its everywhere!
This is the normal style of cooking it...with soy sauce, char siew, wantans, vege.
There's a stall in Lorong Selamat that sells a rather unique Wantan Mee.
Tell you bout it soon ^^

Flavoured Shaved Ice
They have red beans, atapchi, jellies, coconut milk, ice cream...
You name it.
You could always choose what you want!
The colour combination could be soooo cute~

Sotong Panggang (Grilled squid)
Okay, this may stink your breath, but its delicious.
Slices of squid are flattened into paper thin sheets
and then dried
and grilled upon order.
Served with chilli sauce with some peanut toppings here.
Yum!!

Gurney Drive Hawker Centre have so much more to offer! They have the usual Hokkien Mee (Prawn noodles), Asam Laksa, Koay Teow Th'ng, Rojak, Lok Lok...etc. The list goes on. Try everything out with a bunch of friends! This, is Penang.

Woodlands Vegetarian Restaurant

~Time out from the usual Malaysian meal~

I know I know
We've been carnivores...
But we're making up for it!
Vegs have an option too~

Align Center This place has a rather fancy interior
Once we stepped in, it felt like we're in a whole new world.
The decor is rather authentic India.

The place is dimly lit with music softly playing in the background.
There are mirrors all over (in case you wanna check on your teeth) *jk*
Mirrors gives a spacious effect to the place.
Albeit the air-conditioning and teak-wood-looking decor,
its cosy in here. *hearts*

Unfortunately,
its again an in pronto decision
and I ate a heavy meal before coming here.
So fried rice it is.
Verdict : Yums!!! Didn't know vegetarian fried rice can taste so good.
Its not exactly the most filling of dishes.
To me, the serving proportion is just Perfect!
Local food tend to come in proportions too large for me...*sobs*

Behold, the infamous Woodlands Special Thali!
*photo courtesy of One Stop Malaysia*

Its a vegetarian restaurant, so all the 1234...
9 dishes
are vegetarian.
I had the same order several times by now,
and they do change some of the dishes according to availability of ingredients.

Warning: This meal is super filling.
Why? Because you can fill up the rice till your hearts content.
Mind you, its NOT at all small in portion.
Comes with Sweet, Chappathi, Dhall, Rice, Sambar, Rasam, 3 Vege, Spicy Spl Kulambu, Curd, Chilly Papard
Verdict : Yums!! How could you come here to Woodlands
and not try their Special Thali?

When you're about to foot your bill,
there would be little plates containing these.
These are rock sugars.
An Indian friend of mine who recommended this place to me
told me that they are used as breath fresheners after meals.
Owh i see...^^

*photo courtesy of One Stop Malaysia*
Oh yea...Did I mention they have a little stall selling traditional Indian sweets?
Its right outside the restaurant.
You won't miss it.
Their varieties are great, and its fresh. ^^

This place is a must-try! You don't find many authentic Indian food around in Penang, honestly. Not as authentic as this one, and its vegetarian! Quite a healthy choice. They offer a variety of food, including Pulaos and tosai.
The mushroom pulao is pretty tasty, and all the food here is so affordable!

However, there is a time for each menu, so make sure you go during the right time of the day to get what you want to order.

Venue: (quoted from One Stop Malaysia)
60 Lebuh Penang (Penang Street). Not to be confused with the famous Penang Road. Located in the vicinity of Little India. A stone's throw from Sri Ananda Bahwan.

ENJOY!!

Batu Feringghi

Here's for a getaway, from the busy Georgetown streets and the bustling city pace. We decided, rather impulsively *quite as usual* to go to ... ... *drumroll*... ... Batu Ferringhi!!

On our way up the winding road.
Say "Ahh..." *shiokifying*

Eh, you see you see!
The cloud formation! *exitedness*
I seem to get exited on the smallest of things these days... -.-"
I actually Wikipedia-ed cloud types to identify this one,
can't identify it. Ain't no expert. Lolx!

Guess what
I didn't go down to the beach this time. *sob*
Was wearing heels (told you its in pronto decision)
Its a really sunny day, perfect breeze perfect waves~

Sandcastles anyone? ^^

When its warm and sunny
Its great to have an icy glass of OJ and Watermelon juice.
Imagine : Hot sun, cold drinks down your throat...
Ahhhh....

Then we ironically ordered
TOMYAM CAMPUR (tomyam with mixed ingredients)
Well, ingredients include:
Chicken
Squid
Fish
Prawns
You know, the regular. ^^

Verdict: It was mediocre...its the environment that makes the meal good.

Nasi Goreng Kampung

Verdict : This is quite good though! Taste like home.

Nasi Goreng 3 Rasa

Verdict : A little spicy, a little salty...a little tomyam-ish.
Okay, I think its more than 3 rasa (3 flavours).
LoLx!
This is pretty good too.
Its just the two of us, so there's not much to order
Feel free to offer us slimming sessions, we'd order more glorious food!! *grins*

We went there in the afternoons,
this picture is taken on our way down.
Gorgeous sunset...

Venue
The first right turning after Park Royal Hotel (on your way up)
There's also a nice beach bistro nearby - Sunset Bistro
This place is open in the evenings, caters for dinner.
Serves a fusion of Malay and Thai cuisine.
Seafood of course available!
